New Faculty Teaching Academy

All faculty new to teaching at UCI are invited to participate in the New Faculty Teaching Academy (NFTA).  The 2017 Academy will take place in early September.  Designed as a series of integrated modules, participants can sign-up for the number of modules that they feel will best suit their needs.

The Academy is designed specifically for new professors with limited teaching experience; however, new faculty with more experience who are still interested, please contact the Center for Engaged Instruction for other forthcoming academies (cei3000@uci.edu).

Co-sponsored by the Office of Academic Personnel and facilitated by the Center for Engaged Instruction, the Academy is also designed to be practical and hands-on.  Some of the topics include: designing learning with UCI’s student demographics in mind; implementing evidence-based teaching strategies that leverage what we know about how students learn; creating integrated syllabi, lessons, and assessments to increase the likelihood of students learning what you want them to learn; resources for instructors and students; and effectively addressing common teaching-related issues.

Registration and the list of modules are forthcoming; for more information, check this web page for updates.

Participants receive a Certificate of Participation that can be added to their tenure and promotion files.  For more information, contact Dr. Andrea Aebersold at andrea.aebersold@uci.edu or contact cei3000@uci.edu.
